From Quarff to Scord of Wormadale
28/06/2018
Steep climb for start of day 3
Watershed goes clean through the white cottage in distance, so walk over behind it then head up Staba Field.
Looking back into Quarff
Thomas Telford designed Church. The War memorial on the outside wall pays tribute to among others a Shetlander killed on HMS Hood.
Heading up to ridge 200m North of Trig point on Scrae Field.
A bird Shoots out from below my feet, I think it was a Lark.
I part the heather and find a little nest.
I reach the ridge and head North
I come across a sheep stuck in a Guttery hole
It was stuck fast and I had to pull hard to get it out. It had lost the feeling in its legs but seemed to be getting it back as I left. It still had its eyes so the Birds hadn't found it
Hills above Uradale
Follow fence down to Hill of Easter Houll
A peep over the Hill at the beautiful Village of Scalloway
Trondra Bridge
The Watershed passes along the edge of the Quarry but the Keep out signs have to be obeyed
Looking down from the Quarry towards Scalloway
Push on along the ridge
Njugals Water
Looking back
Cross celebrating Jesus on Hill of Steinswall
Celebration of Government grants on Burra Dale Hill
As I head away from the Burra Dale Wind Farm I see a Vehicle fire above Frakkafield. Thankfully no one was injured
Looking back up hill
Pass to the North of the Loch of Tingwall
Pass the Church and head towards Griesta through the Marsh
Stay to edge of hay field avoiding trampling the hay.
These houses Lie on the Watershed so pick either side to pass them, I've done both when mapping the route but either will do as it is within the accepted boundries
Head South now to Gallow Hill
Looking back at Griesta from Gallow Hill
Head West to Setter Hill
Looking back from Setter Hill
Then Head North towards Hill of Griesta
Looking back from Hill of Griesta 118M
Looking back at Hill of Griesta from Nesbister Hill
Ruined Cairn
End of todays walk at The Scord of Wormadale
Daily Mileage 13.26 Miles
Ascent 676 M
